We have many years of experience in software development, with clients ranging from commercial enterprises to manufacturing industries. Our experience covers a variety of operating systems, databases and development environments, including web-based systems.

Due to our extensive commitment to training, we no longer take on large development projects. Instead we assist development teams in a variety of areas, including:

• Coding standards. Proper development standards and procedures are essential to reduce the cost of software maintenance.
• Code auditing.
• Application of object oriented principles.
• Vendor-independent technology evaluations.
• Transitions to new technologies.
• Development of functional and/or user requirements specifications.

Project Management

It is common knowledge that IT projects have a history of being overdue and over budget, not to mention the fact that the final system often does not match the users' requirements. For this reason it is essential that these projects are properly managed.

We believe that project managers require a blend of business experience, IT skills, and project management skills:

• Business experience ensures a comprehensive understanding of the role of any IT project within the corporation as a whole, and the need for that project to add value to the company. It also provides important communication and general management skills.
• Software development experience provides a manager with an understanding of the frustrations and difficulties which are unique to software development projects, and ensures the ability to understand, motivate and support software developers on the project.
• Project management skills, including project planning, risk management, change management and change control are essential to the success of a project.

Our project management experience includes a variety of projects: from the implementation of a SAP HR system to the establishment of project management procedures for a programme management office.

We also provide a Project Management course which is designed specifically for project managers within the IT environment.

Documentation Development

Effective and accessible documentation and training material provide employees with the information they need to perform their jobs correctly.

We can assist in a variety of ways:

• Advice on the choice of documentation format: from word processor to HTML to XML - or any combination that will work best in your environment.
• Management of documentation projects, ensuring that documentation is given the attention it deserves.
• Assistance with the development of templates and documentation processes.
• Development of business and user documentation for you.
• Advice on documentation management.

We also provide a Technical Documentation course which is designed to assist developers of documentation.

Training Material

In addition to developing our own technical training material, we have developed various intranet-based training systems for clients, as well as training material for presenter-based training in respect of both business processes and systems applications.

Although a variety of options are available, we usually advise clients to develop training material in XML. This allows for flexibility and reusablility. Training material in XML can quickly be transformed into HTML, for an easy-to-use web experience. The same source can also be used to generate printed PDF documents. Furthermore, the same information can be presented in different ways, to meet the needs of different learners.

Our XML Development course will help developers come to grips with the power and versatility of XML.
